A bit about me, and how I work etc
That’s me on the left, having a great time at a super fun outdoor marquee wedding! Taken by a guest
For the majority of the day I love to blend in like a guest, and capture natural, in-the-moment photos.
I offer some direction and help when it comes to the more posed photos, I have a keen eye for detail and I’ll get your dress looking amazing, but I still try to make it feel as natural as possible, without being overly posed or awkward feeling.
I have been told that I constantly smile whilst working - and that I look like I’m really enjoying myself (which I am!) and I love to give as much positive energy and attitude into my photos as possible.
When you feel great you look great, and I beleive a having a photographer there who you feel comfortable and happy around makes a HUGE difference, so I always go into every wedding giving 110% to make you both feel amazing and have an incredible day.
I’m generally pretty relaxed about everything, but I will pick the best locations for photographs based on lighting and also backgrounds - I want the photos to look the best they possibly can. Sometimes this is outside of my control, but where I can, I always try to position my group photos and my couple photos in the best possible light.
I work with natural light 99% of the time - I love nothing more than finding the most beautiful locations with the best light and positioning you there, then giving a little direction to ensure you look your best, then leaving you to it whilst capturing natural moments.
Most importantly, I love my job - I literally love being able to spend the happiest day of so many couple’s life with them and capturing memories they will cherish forever.
Family - the part of the day couples worry about the most is the family photos. I have a strategy to ensure we get all the family photos done as quickly as possible, giving you more time to enjoy your wedding and speak to guests etc. I suggest aiming for about 10 different groups and doing this as early as possible (usually immediately after the wedding ceremony) to get the best results. Having a bridesmaid or (sober) groomsman on hand definitely helps!
Morning Preparations - one of my favourite parts of the day is the morning preps, the pre-wedding nerves, the excitement, the chaos, the butterflies… I arrive with you at least 2.5 hours before your wedding ceremony to capture as much of this as possible - from both sides. While I usually spent more time with the girls (there’s usually a lot more going on!), I do like to get photos of the lads too. Whether its doing cufflinks, tightening ties, having a relaxing pre-wedding pint or all of the above, the morning of your wedding day is something you’ll remember forever, so it’s important to capture it.
Just The Two Of You - I then ask for another 10 minutes with just the two of you, to go for a walk around your wedding venue. Nothing awkward, no cheesy poses, no clichéd wedding photographs that make you cringe… just you two for 10 minutes being yourselves. This is another part of the day that most couples dread - it is my job to make this as much fun as possible and I promise I wont ask you to smile for the camera.
Rather than all of the photos being taken at the same time, I will often do 2 sessions with just the two of you, one during the drinks reception (usually the shorter of the two, as to not make you miss too much!) and then another just before the meal (when all the guests are being seated and finding their tables etc) - where we will have full use of the venue without anyone else being there. I try to keep these sessions fun, moving and for about 10 minutes each - so roughly 20 minutes in total over your whole wedding day.
Bridesmaids & Groomsmen - I love to try and involve as much as possible into my photos, they wont all be just of you two, I think it’s important to include your closest friends and family into the pictures. In keeping with my style, I like these to be fun, as natural as possible and genuine.
I have photographed weddings across the UK and abroad with destination weddings in Italy, Slovenia, France and Greece. I am always happy to travel.
I photograph weddings all over the UK. I was nominated for The Wedding Industry Awards in 2016 where I was a regional finalist for the UKs best wedding photographer.
My style can be described as relaxed, documentary, informal, romantic.
In order to put 110% into every wedding I photograph, I only take on a limited number of wedding photography bookings each year. Please get in touch either via the contact form, or directly through email at nickenglishphotography@gmail.com to tell me about your wedding!
I have a 6 year old little boy called Zack who is quite possibly the most photographed child in the world! Here he is at 3 months old and 2.5yrs old!
