Rachel & Lewis’ Relaxed Outdoor Wedding at Browsholme Hall

Rachel and Lewis’ wedding at Browsholme Hall in Lancashire was exactly the kind of wedding day I love photographing. Relaxed, informal, full of genuinely lovely people and with absolutely no shortage of opportunities for natural, documentary-style wedding photography. From their beautiful outdoor ceremony beside the Lily Pond to a garden-party-style celebration on the lawn, this was a day that felt effortlessly happy from beginning to end.

The ceremony took place outside at the stunning Lily Pond at Browsholme Hall, surrounded by the beautiful Lancashire countryside. And, of course, Rachel and Lewis weren’t going to get married without their gorgeous sausage dog, Nacho, being part of the day! With such a beautiful setting, plenty of emotion and Nacho inevitably stealing a little of the attention, it was a brilliant way to start the celebrations.

After the ceremony, everyone headed onto the lawn in front of Browsholme Hall for a wonderfully relaxed garden party. Drinks flowed, lawn games were played and there was certainly no shortage of Aperol! Rather than a formal wedding reception where everyone sits down and waits for the next thing to happen, this was all about people enjoying themselves, chatting, drinking and spending time together. It created so many brilliant opportunities for natural wedding photographs at Browsholme Hall, capturing the little moments, laughter and interactions between friends and family as they happened.

For me, this was a particularly enjoyable wedding to photograph. Rachel and Lewis were incredibly chilled and surrounded themselves with a really lovely group of people, which meant I could simply blend into the background and document the day as it unfolded. There was very little posing and absolutely no need to manufacture moments – they were happening everywhere. From garden games and drinks on the lawn to hugs, laughter and those fleeting little interactions that are so easily missed, it was packed with the kind of genuine moments I love to photograph.

Browsholme Hall wedding photography lends itself perfectly to this documentary approach. The beautiful grounds, outdoor ceremony locations and relaxed atmosphere give couples so much freedom to enjoy their wedding day rather than spending hours away from their guests having photographs taken. Rachel and Lewis’ wedding was a brilliant example of that – beautiful, informal, incredibly happy and completely focused on having a fantastic time with the people they love.

I was very happy with this one. It was one of those wedding days where you can put the camera to your eye, look around and know there is another great photograph happening somewhere. A gorgeous couple, a brilliant bunch of people, a sausage dog called Nacho, plenty of Aperol and one of Lancashire’s most beautiful wedding venues – Browsholme Hall really delivered the perfect setting for a relaxed, documentary-style wedding.
